Purpose of Position:
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for the financial accounting, and internal control functions for PERA, including the approximately $14.1 billion pension fund. This position is a key leader, helping to develop and implement strategies and deliver strategic objectives sustainably and in the membership interest. The CFO is actively involved in material business decisions to ensure immediate and long-term implications, opportunities and risks are fully considered and align with PERA’s financial strategy. This position must lead the promotion and delivery of good financial management so that the pension fund money is safeguarded at all times and used appropriately, economically, efficiently and effectively. The CFO must lead and direct financial functions, and be professionally qualified and suitably experienced on the financial composition of a pension fund.

This position is a Pay Band 90.

Minimum QualificationsA Master’s Degree in any field of study from an accredited college or university and eight (8) years of professional level experience with a strategic impact directly related to the purpose of the position defined by the agency at the time of recruitment.  Any combination of education from an accredited college or university and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling fourteen (14) years may substitute for the required education and experience.  A hiring agency will designate a portion of the required experience to include management and/or specialized experience. Any required licensure, certification or registration shall be defined at the time of recruitment and will be in addition to the above requirements.

Employment Requirements:
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver’s License. A pre-employment background investigation is required and conditional pending results.
