Purpose of Position:
The purpose of this position is to be responsible for coordinating the submission of the Annual Budget Request and establishing and monitoring the Agency’s Operating Budget each fiscal year. This position works with assigned programs to meet the statutory deadlines of September 1st to submit the Annual Budget Request and May 1st to establish the Annual Operating Budget. The position also conducts periodic budget reviews, tracks fund balances, verifies budget availability for personnel actions, reviews and submits Budget Adjustment Requests, and provides guidance and support to programmatic budget and financial staff. This position is also required to provide agency- and program-level analysis of expenditures, revenues, and budgets to management. As well as, serve as the primary point of contact with their counterparts at the Department of Finance and Administration and the Legislative Finance Committee regarding budget questions and requests.

This position is a Pay Band 65.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration and two (2) years of experience in budget preparation, budget monitoring, governmental accounting and/or federal grant reporting. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements:
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver’s License.
