October 2016 Newsletter
Hello AGA New Mexico Chapter Members!
The fall season has arrived with the weather cooling off, the leaves changing colors and the financial statement audits in process. The federal government is starting a new fiscal year. At the forefront of this season are the responsibilities of financial management officials at all levels. Part of these functions are cyber security, which was the topic of the webinar on October 12. Three experts presented on the current threats to all areas including the public and private sectors. The negative effect is the reduction or stoppage of financial activities. However, the presenters remarked that with constant planning, monitoring and involvement of all parties within an organization cyber-attacks can be prevented and operations continued without interruption.
Chapter members participated this past weekend in the annual five mile Walk to Cure Breast Cancer. The Chapter raised $155 to support research. Just a reminder that the Chapter is participating in a food drive now and through the month of November to collect non-perishable food items. The Chapter will be collecting these items at all events. Please consider donating to help out those in need. Please see the flyer for more information.
The next Chapter luncheon will be October 19, 2016 to be held at the Cowgirl Hall of Fame Restaurant in Santa Fe. The Chapter is honored to have Heather Prudhomme, CGFM and AGA Southwest Regional Vice President as the featured speaker. Please read the announcement in the newsletter.
