Happy Fall New Mexico Chapter Members!

President’s Message:

The fall season for financial managers means several things. For state and local governments it means diving into the beginning of a new fiscal year and getting ready for the audit season. For those working on the federal side the year-end is just ending and a new one is about to open. One thing for sure is the importance of current fiscal activity at all tiers of government. With uncertainty in the air about fiscal paths at all levels of government the one constant across the board is fiscal accountability. No matter how anyone looks at it financial management plays a critical role across the board of all of government and in any economic environment.

The Chapter Executive Committee (CEC) wishes to thank those members who contributed school supplies at the Member Appreciation Picnic. The charity events on the horizon are participating in the walk for Breast Cancer Awareness Month on October 8 (please note the colors used throughout this newsletter). Also, the Chapter will be participating in a national challenge to collect foodstuffs for the Food Warehouse. This will take place starting in October and commencing at our Chapter Luncheon in mid-November. No matter where you are located in New Mexico I encourage all AGA NM Chapter members to participate in these worthwhile events.

The CEC has begun the initial planning phase for the state-wide Professional Development Training to be held the spring. I encourage Chapter members to solicit ideas for speakers and training. Contact information is listed on the last page of the newsletter. Last, Thank you for what you do to maintain integrity and accountability.
